Longtail

This beautiful seabird has long been a harbinger of spring and always a welcome sight to every Bermudian and visitor alike.  These pristine white birds with impressively long tails gracefully adorn our south shore beaches.  Their aerial courtship displays involve touching the tips of their tails in paired flight.  Because of this they are the perfect symbol to me of romantic love.

Visiting women to the island are sometimes referred to as “long tails”, a welcome spring and summer sight as well!
